One of the big time athletes that the Bulldogs were able to grab the attention of was Southlake Christian 2016 3B/P Riley Zayicek. The talented 6 foot 1 195 pound athlete has made quite a name for himself on the diamond already early in his high school career. Now with his sophomore campaign on the horizon, Zayicek is working hard to make sure that he grabs coaches attention all over the country.
Zayicek is the type of athlete that brings a lot to the table when he is on the diamond. Whether it be with his bat, glove, or arm, Riley works hard to show he wants to win everytime he takes the field.
"I am one of those guys that goes out there and leaves it all on the field," said Zayicek. "I will do whatever my team needs me to do in order for us to come away with a victory. I am a gap hitter that puts the ball in play and makes things happen. I also can come in and pitch when the team needs me to do that.
"I play football as well. We have a new quarterback at Southlake and with baseball really picking up for me I have decided to move to wide receiver to help that team as well."
Zayicek has camped at South Carolina recently in order to get his name out. He has also grabbed the attention of the coaches at Mississippi State as well and is looking to impress them.
"I went to a showcase camp in South Carolina," he said. "i feel like I did really well in the first game there. The second was rained out. I hit two balls into right field field in that first game. I also came in and got out all six batters I faced while I was pitching. I got a chance to talk to Coach Holbrook while I was there and he said they really like me.
"Mississippi State coaches are supposed to come see me at East Cobb when I play there. I am really looking forward to seeing them. I really want to check Mississippi State out because I want to play in a big time league like the SEC. The success they had this past year makes you really take a long hard look at them."
